The automated factory - a progress report
Article Abstract:
Computer-aided manufacturing systems are being implemented with a modular approach in most factories. The General Electric and Ingersoll Milling Machine companies exemplify how successful automated systems can be. Computers can be used to shorten manufacturing cycles, reduce manufacturing costs, provide for optimum equipment utilization, improve product quality, and control inventory most effectively.
