VDT-specific lighting illuminates Wall Street trading room
Article Abstract:
Fahnestock & Co. uses fluorescent lighting from Lightoiler that meets the need of the firm's visual display terminal-supported traders. The recessed wall-mounted lighting, designed to meet the visual requirements of the securities trader's employees, was installed when the firm decided to move to its new offices at Two New York Plaza in late 1997. The lightings, using high-reflectance ceiling tiles with direct/indirect pendants, were designed to eliminate overhead glare, a constant problem when working with VDTs.

'Candy canes' strip ice from garage ramps
Article Abstract:
Mountain Energy and Resources Inc of Golden, CO, supplied the radiant tube heaters used at a number of underground parking garages in Denver, CO. The heaters, which were cantilevered from the side wall via a 'candy cane' Section 40 tubing, are used to counter icy conditions on the garage's entrance/exit ramps. The choice of Mountain Energy was made based on its technology's ability to focus heat in a particular area and its resistance to the elements.
