Wheels within plastic wheels
Article Abstract:
Puncture-proof tyres have been developed by UK-based polyurethane specialist firm Urathon, although initial tests have shown suitability only for small vehicles, such as bicycles. The tyres are made from moulded polyurethane which incorporates rolling resistance, making the finished product at least 30% heavier than standard air-filled tyres. Urathon is testing the tyres suitability for lawn tractors, and is hoping to eventually produce a tyre to be used on cars.

Tracked vehicle drives better than a car: what must be the ultimate tracked vehicle transmission is low cost yet allows superlative control
Article Abstract:
A new tracked vehicle transmission system has been developed providing car-type control on rough terrain, with capacity fo prceise manoevring and positioning at low speeds. It involves the use of a hydraulic motor which drives a half shaft fixed to a differential dedicated to steering. This allows improved control and all speeds and greater mechanical effeciency.
