Wired for sound
Article Abstract:
The four steel, drum-like buildings of the National Centre for Popular Music in Sheffield, England, look futuristic. The rotating cowls on the top of each drum appear to be an interesting feature of decoration, but these cowls rotate so that they can point into the wind and save energy within the air handling system. Mechanical and electrical contractor N.G. Bailey Organisation Ltd. has also installed these features, as well as the miles of electric cabling needed within the building to service all the equipment which allows visitors to explore the audio-visual world of popular music.

It's good to talk

Electrical contractors could be losing business by not establishing a dedicated answering system, according to a survey of UK small businesses, which found over 15% of customer calls were not answered. Customers were often left with a poor impression of firms because of their customer answering service. Electronic pagers, fax machines and telephone answering machines are the main equipment needed to establish good customer service response.
