A transient, nutrient-based model of Arctic plant community response to climatic warming
Article Abstract:
Simulations of climatic warming indicate distinct differences between short- and long-term effects on Arctic plant populations, from decades to centuries. Short-term effects include dominance of shrub biomass, reducing other plant functional types; long-term effects include the proliferation of novel plant communities outside current regional norms.

Responses of subalpine meadow vegetation to four years of experimental warming
Article Abstract:
Research indicates only a slight degree of negative change in a subalpine meadow as a response to climatic warming, compared to other types of regions which exhibit pronounced negative changes. It is posited that seasonal precipitation variability normally occurring in arid high-elevation meadows may account for a less pronounced response.

Climatic and human influences on fire regimes in ponderosa pine forests in the Colorado Front Range
Article Abstract:
Research indicates that El Nino-Southern Oscillation (ENSO) events are an important factor in assessing extreme fire hazard in the Colorado Front Range. ENSO-produced wet seasons foster greater undergrowth, which then creates higher fire risk during ENSO-produced dry seasons; a history of seasonal data for the area is presented.
