Assessing economic impacts of biological control of weeds: The case of leafy spurge in the northern Great Plains of the United States
Article Abstract:
Leafy spurge (Eurphorbia esula L.) is a perennial weed of Europe and Asia and is a serious problem in the northern Great Plains area of the US. The possible economic benefits of biological control of leafy spurge in Montana, Wyoming and North and South Dakota, were estimated. Biological agents were predicted to control around 65% of the leafy spurge infestations by the year 2005.
