Climate change effects of hydroecology of arctic freshwater ecosystems
Article Abstract:
The numerous physical effects of freshwater ecosystems that would be produced due to the decline or loss of several cryospheric components and a shift from a nival to increasingly pluvial systems are discussed. The effects would include an increase in the lotic and lentic productivity due to loss of ice and permafrost, increase in water temperatures and vegetation shifts altering water chemistry.

General features of the Artic relevant to climate change in freshwater ecosystems
Article Abstract:
A number of indirect ecosystems are created by Arctic climate by the control of terrestrial hydrologic systems and processes, especially those associated with cryospheric components. The Arctic freshwater ecosystems can have a direct effect on the ecology of freshwater lentic and lotic systems due to the dominance of some anadromous fishes in arctic freshwater ecosystems.

Climate change effects on Aquatic biota, ecosystem structure and function
Article Abstract:
The different effects of climate change on biogeochemical processes, carbon dynamics, aquatic biodiversity and adaptive capacities are discussed. It is felt that climate change affecting the biodiversity of freshwater ecosystems across most of the Arctic would bring about changes in the quality and quantity of aquatic habitat for aquatic mammals and waterfowl.
