Directions for environmental engineering
Article Abstract:
The changing nature of environmental engineering threatens to make the discipline even less visible in the manufacturing industries than it already is. The situation is best remedied, however, by maintaining the current focus on residual management instead of training them on upstream manufacturing practices as this would limit the demand for environmental engineers. The problems of pollution and waste management can be more effectively addressed by training product and process design and operation engineers to integrate environmental management in their daily practice.

Undergraduate environmental engineering education
Article Abstract:
Universities and colleges looking to offer a course in environmental engineering or improve their current programs need to identify and understand their objectives for instituting such a change. Whether these objectives are to meet the needs of the studentry, attract more enrollees or meet the community's or industry's needs, they should be compatible with current trends in environmental engineering and the characteristics of their student population and the larger community.

Undergraduate environmental engineering education forum paper discussion
Article Abstract:
Educating the environmental engineer means proactive administration of university programs which should include a firm foundation on mathematics, chemistry, and biology. It is imperative that principles of environmental engineering, especially those that revolve around mass balance, mass transport, and reaction kinetics, be emphasized at the start of the program. It would also help if instructors promoted case discussions, group exercises and internships.
