Discounted knowledges: farmers' and residents' understandings of nature conservation goals and policies
Article Abstract:
A case study of a Wildlife Enhancement Scheme on the Pevensey Levels, East Sussex, UK, is employed to show the views that local farmers and residents have of the natural conservation targets and practices related to the Local Biodiversity Action Plans. It is demonstrated how farmers question both the monopoly of knowledge conservationists propose to have about nature, and the recruitment of farmers as technicians, motivated only by financial rewards, rather than as knowledgeable experts who also have emotional and ethical motivations for protecting nature.

Impacts of ozone on the activities of asthmatics: Revisiting the data
Article Abstract:
A conditional demand system for three activities is developed considering how individuals' activity schedules respond to ozone pollution and asthma symptom severity. The empirical results suggest that increased ozone levels have a significant influence on the amount of time that asthmatics spend in one of the activities, even though the examined time period exhibited relatively low ozone levels.
