Environmental assessment of plant protection strategies using scenarios for pig feed production
Article Abstract:
An environmental systems analysis focused on pesticide use and risks in future pig feed production in Sweden was conducted to investigate the possibility of restricting the use of pesticides in feed production without worsening other environmental effects or reducing crop yields. The results showed environmentally sound possibilities to reduce pesticides dependency and risks by using altered plant protection strategies in pig-feed production.

Industrial processing versus home cooking: An environmental comparison between three ways to prepare a meal
Article Abstract:
Life cycle assessment was used to qualify the environmental impacts of three meals namely home made, semi prepared and ready-to-eat. The differences in environmental impact between the meals were small, the ready-to-eat meal used the most energy but homemade meal had higher emission causing eutrophication and global warming.

Flows of plant nutrients in food production and consumption in a Swedish district
Article Abstract:
An examination of phosphorous, potassium and nitrogen flows related to food production and consumption in Halmstad, Sweden, is presented, focusing on the relationship between nutrient surplus and livestock density. Topics include emission of nitrous oxide, organic waste, wastewater treatment, and fertilizer.
