Genetic diversity in Arctic lemmings
Article Abstract:
Genetic diversity in lemmings along 6000 km of the Arctic closest of Eurasia has been studied as an adjunct of the Tundra Ecology -94 expedition. Comparisons were made among various populations and within them. They were also made among regions and species. The goal of the study was to give molecular data for solving taxonomic problems related to true lemmings (Lemmus) It was possible after mtDNA. studies to clarify the phylogenetic relationships among various populations and separate the species L. sibiricus into L. sibiricus and L. bungei. A second goal was describe chromosome races in collared lemmings (Dicrosonyx).

Lead concentrations and stable isotopic evidence for transpolar contamination of plants in the Canadian High Arctic
Article Abstract:
Precipitation and atmospheric sampling in the Canadian High Arctic indicates that lead contamination of plant life is originating from transpolar as well as mid-latitudinal sources. Lead bioaccumulation was found to be higher in northern plant samples than in southern ones, supporting the theory of significant Eurasian contributions to the Arctic's lead burden.
