Harbour resource management in Cowes, Isle of Wight: an analytical framework for multiple-use decision-making

Article Abstract:

The Oakerson Framework has been used as the basis for a heuristic framework for the analysis of decision-making processes in multiple-use common-pool resources (CPRs). This research has made particular reference to the aggregate multiple uses of Cowes Harbour in the Isle of Wight, England. The Oakerson Framework was amended to include elements to encourage a two-way analysis of resource governance. If used correctly, the multiple-use framework will assist researchers and practitioners in obtaining and using information about the governance of multiple-use CPRs.

Assessing pollution levels in sediments of harbour with two opposing entrances: Environmental implications

Article Abstract:

The pollution levels in the harbour of Ceuta are assessed along with the origin of contaminants in the harbour and the environmental implications in comparison with conventional harbours with only one entrance are evaluated. The presence of a channel in Ceuta harbour increases the heterogeneity of sediments, which consist mostly of mud in conventional harbours, and contributes to maintaining rich and diverse macrofaunal communities.
