High Nitrogen costs of Dairy production in Europe: Worsened by Intensification
Article Abstract:
Intensification of agriculture is proposed as one way of minimizing emissions per unit of product, apparently legitimizing the ongoing structural changes in agriculture. The global nitrogen (N) pollution by dairy farming can be mitigated by the following measures which are recoupling production side by side, more extensive farming system, subordinating the N efficiency of the herd to that of a plant sector and a closer interdisciplinary scientific effort involving all relevant expertises.

Regional air pollution at a turning point
Article Abstract:
The mechanisms influencing air pollution policies in the context of socioeconomic changes, climate change and policy development in Europe are examined. New strategies are under development within the Clean Air for Europe (CAFE) programme under the European Commission and the Convention on Long-range Transboundary Air Pollution (CLRTAP) for reducing small particles concentrations in Europe.
