Host traits and parasite species richness in even and odd-toed hoofed mammals, Artiodactyla and Perissodactyla
Article Abstract:
A collection of databases for various species including even- and odd-toed hoofed mammals, Artiodactyla and Perissodactyla is used to explore the role of multiple host traits in determining the patterns of infection across diverse parasite groups. The results prove that the diversity and types of parasites that affect such hoofed animals are highly influenced by their body mass, longevity and social organization and hence can lead to several different ways to shape the observed patterns.

A parasite spatially structures its host population
Article Abstract:
Host-parasite interactions can influence species distribution in nature laboratory and field study is discussed in which an investigation, of how amphipods infected by the acanthocephalan parasite compensate for downstream displacement and respond to a fish extract predator cue, is made.

Evolution of tolerance: the genetic basis of a host's resistance against parasite manipulation
Article Abstract:
The alteration in the life history traits of the mosquito Aedes aegypti due to the infection by the microsporidian parasite, Brachiola algerae, is described. The estimation of the parasite's virulence requires the inclusion of the entire life history of an infected host.
