Lives lost, fortunes squandered and wastes mounting
Article Abstract:
Nuclear reactors all over the world pose a great health and economic threat to human beings and other life forms. Although anti-reactor movements have succeeded in shutting many reactors in the US and other places, most of them remain in operation causing worldwide health hazards. Large health and death tolls at Three Mile Island in New Hampshire and Chernobyl received little attention at the judicial and political levels. Greenpeace and other sane energy advocates demand the replacement of nuclear reactors with solar and wind energy.

Greens vie for gold
Article Abstract:
Greenpeace assists in designing a green village for the 2000 Olympics in New South Wales, Australia, according to Environmental Guidelines. Its focus is on environmentally sound alternatives in urban development. Such alternatives optimally utilize renewable energy sources, CFC-, HCFC-, and HFC-free refrigerants, recycled and recyclable materials, public transit, water conservation, and non-chlorine-based products. The management of the Olympics in Atlanta provides guidelines for designing the village.
