Political and economic determinants of individuals' support for environmental spending
Article Abstract:
Public attitudes on environmental spending from 1974 to 1991 were analyzed. It was found that support for enhanced environmental funding was affected by age, education, gender, ideology, party affiliation and urbanization. Personal and macro-level economic conditions were also cited to have an important role on individual acceptance of increased environmental funding. Policy-makers were advised to be aware of socioeconomic influences on public opinion.

The economic value of reducing environmental health risks: Contingent valuation estimates of the value of information
Article Abstract:
A recent study of contingent valuation (CV) studies rejected the idea that CV consistently produces scope insensitive values. Scope sensitive CV estimates of the value of information concerning health risks linked to environmental contamination, are reported. It was found that in particular, anglers valued alternative information about chemical residues in sport fish. Evidence is provided that the CV method is able to estimate scope sensitive values.
