Predation risk effects on fitness related measures in a resident bird
Article Abstract:
The influence of breeding avian predators on the habitat selection and the resulting fitness consequences in a northern population of resident willow tit is investigated for four years on 429 willow tit nests in a location having 33 avian predator nests. It was found that the willow tits did not give clear indications of predator free habitats for settling migrants nor did the breeding avian predators create the predictable predation risk in the landscape.

The interaction between bird predation and plant cover in determining habitat occupancy of darkling beetles
Article Abstract:
Research on animal predation in Israel's Negev Desert supports the hypotheses that bird predation on beetles is reduced by plant cover, and that larger beetle species are preferred as prey over smaller ones. Studies included white storks, stone curlews, brown-necked ravens and kestrels, and involved nine diurnal spring species and 11 nocturnal summer species of beetles.

Habitat selection in a seasonally variable environment: test of the isodar theory with the fat and rat, Psammomys obesus, in the Negev Desert, Israel
Article Abstract:
Isodar theory is applied to the analysis of habitat selection by a diurnal folivorous gerbil species, Psammomys obesus, in the Negev Desert, Israel. The results of long-term seasonal variation in habitat distribution are discussed.
