Venue and outcome in ecological experiments: manipulations of larval anurans
Article Abstract:
The authors examine the importance of venue selection in conducting experiments in ecological research, using Anura tadpoles as subjects. In a comparison of field, mesocosm and laboratory venues, it was found that laboratory studies did not yield more accurate response estimates than did mesocosm or field studies, but experiment outcomes involving tadpoles raised at higher conspecific densities were dependent on venue choice.

Seasonal regulation in fluctuating small mammal populations: feedback structure and climate
Article Abstract:
A population model is presented for six Appalachian Plateau small mammal species, based on inter- and intra-specific competitive interaction coupled with a seasonal feedback structure. The influence of environmental factors varied between populations for both summer and winter.

How useful is the concept of habitat? - A critique
Article Abstract:
An argument regarding the quantitative value of the habitat concept is presented. The thesis reveals that the concept of habitat is of value only as qualitative descriptors of organism distribution, and is of little value in quantitatively describing organism abundance.
