Responses of subarctic-alpine plant communities to simulated environmental change: biodiversity of bryophytes, lichens, and vascular plants
Article Abstract:
Studies imitating predicted climatic changes have resulted in estimations of responses in subarctic-alpine plants. Through artificially controlled nutrient and temperature levels, researchers discovered a shift in dominant bottom and canopy layer groundcover species from mosses to lichens. This result, however, is insufficient to evaluate total alpine biodiversity.

Conservation priorities on biodiversity of invertebrates (non-insecta) in Bulgarian mountains
Article Abstract:
Three selection criteria have been identified for invertebrate biodiversity conservation in Bulgaria. These are the presence of endangered species, endemic species, and rare or stenobiotic species. Several regions in Bulgaria are home to many of these types of species, and include cave habitats, mountain ecosystems, karst terrains, river valleys, and coastal areas.

Implications of the hierarchical structure of biodiversity for the development of ecological indicators of sustainable use
Article Abstract:
The need for indicators, when studying the biodiversity in a particular area, is emphasized. The Plan Piloto Forestal in Quintano Roo, Mexico is cited as an example.
