Restoration and management of the Inner Mongolia grassland require a sustainable strategy
Article Abstract:
Rapid economic development resulted in land degradation in China particularly in the vast Inner Mongolia grassland and efforts by the Chinese government to redress this environmentally risky situation by the extensive planting of trees have had little success. A grassland restoration demonstration project carried out in Hunshandak demonstrated that without grazing the previously degraded grassland could recover rapidly through natural processes.
