Modelling nitrogen transport and retention in the catchments of southern Sweden
Article Abstract:
Nitrogen leaching in southern Sweden is contributing to the eutrophication of the Baltic Sea. The nitrogen is retained in Sweden's freshwater system and subbasins, and then transported via the country's river network. Modelling this transportation process will help develop improved water quality management practices and environmental planning to avoid further contamination.
