The maintenance of landscape health in the midst of land use change
Article Abstract:
Land use design maintains and restores, amidst land use change of moderate pace and scale, the attributes of landscape health, which are the working mechanisms of all open systems. The attributes of openness, self-regulation, storage and diversity are evident in the homeostatic behavior of forests, deserts and floodplains. The attributes of health provide guidelines for evaluating and planning land use.
