The major histocompatibility complex, sexual selection, and mate choice
Article Abstract:
Recombination of good genes through selective mate choice must achieve a twofold genetic benefit in each generation to maintain sexual reproduction. Fragrant immune genes of the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) allows the choosy sex to complement her own set of alleles with more diverse set of male alleles to reach an optimal number of different MHC alleles for the offspring.

Unifying and testing models of sexual selection
Article Abstract:
Mathematical models are extensively used to test the plausibility of different complicated scenarios for the evolution of sexual traits. The evolutionary explanations for the relationship between anisogamy, potential reproductive rates, parental care, sex roles and mate choice are discussed.

Bird song: The interface of evolution and mechanism
Article Abstract:
A study examines, from both conceptual and empirical perspectives, how proximate mechanisms might temper patterns of bird song evolution. The study's findings suggest that vocal mechanisms not only constrain song evolution but also can facilitate the evolution of novel vocal features.
