Towards a functional resource-based concept for habitat: a butterfly biology viewpoint
Article Abstract:
The implications of a particulate, invariant and homogeneous entity concept of habitat in butterfly biology are examined. An alternative approach of application of a functional resource-based concept of habitat is recommended.

The relationship between habitat permanence and larval development in California spadefoot toads: field and laboratory comparisons of developmental plasticity
Article Abstract:
The differences in larval habitats and life history of three species of spadefoot toads are examined. The genetic basis of the differences in development and controlled comparisons of phenotypic plasticity is discussed.

The role of habitat selection behavior in population dynamics: source-sink systems and ecological traps
Article Abstract:
The effects of habitat choice on population dynamics and habitat occupancy patterns are investigated. The source-sink dynamics and ecological traps are treated as special cases of a single process.
