Bordeaux vintner invests in Hungary

AXA is purchasing 250 acres of Tokay vineyards, and vintner Jean-Michel Cazes will run the winemaking operation with his winemaker Daniel Llose. AXA, an insurance company, owns other vineyards, eight of which are in Bordeaux. The company also owns real property in Paris.

French group opens stunning winery in Hungary's Tokay region
Article Abstract:
The winemaking subsidiary of French insurance giant AXA opened a modern winery in Hungary's historic wine district. The new winery, complete with a computerized console room, is part of an $8 to $10 million project that included replanting almost half of the vineyards.

Napa Valley vintner Donald Hess buys half of South Africa's Glen Carlou Winery in worldwide expansion
Article Abstract:
Donald Hess, owner of the Hess Collection Winery, bought a 50% stake in Carlou. He already owns interests in wineries in Chile, Australia and Argentina. His Hess Holding, based in Switzerland, enabled Hess to finance this deal.
