Castello dei Rampolla Sammarco: a super-Tuscan blend of Cabernet and Sangiovese grown in Chianti

Maurizia and Luca di Napoli have been creating their excellent vino da tavola since 1980. Castello dei Rampolla has outstanding vineyards and produced great wines in 1983, 1985 and 1990. The winery produces about 4,250 cases of wine a year.

Chianti Classico's quest for consistency
Article Abstract:
Chianti Classico needs to develop a consistent style, as Bordeaux has done. Sixteen of both wines were sampled in a blind tasting, and only one Chianti Classico, a 1987 Castello di Ama Vigneto l'Apparita, rated well.

Several Tuscan wines are rated on a scale of one to 100, with tasting notes and prices provided. Most 1994 Chianti wines are evaluated, but others include 1993 Chianti riserva and both vintages of vino da tavola.
