Pres Clinton's culinary preferences appear to be simple, but he has served wine at state functions. Washington DC restaurateurs discuss the wine-buying habits of Democrats. It is unknown what the new administration's policy on the health and tax status of wine will be.

Free the grapes! hopes to tap wine lovers in mail-order battle

Mail order marketing of regional wine products has met some opposition with state legislatures. Mail-order marketing produces a good deal of sales for smaller vineyards. A group called "Free the Grapes!" plans to lobby against these restrictive state policies.
