Dynamism in the Douro
Article Abstract:
The Douro region of Portugal in the 21st century is in the midst of a winemaking revolution as the region's formerly staid vintners, along with a rising generation of young Portuguese, enter a new age of table wines. The Douro reds are powerful while offering unique flavor profiles, and although the wines are still in their infancy in 2006, wine lovers can expect to see more and more reds from the region as additional Port producers and new wineries pursue table wines.
