The cost of fine wines in a global recession
Article Abstract:
Wine prices have been dropping and it is quite likely that they will continue. Prices have already dropped from 10 to 50% in Europe and prices in the US are quite likely to follow. Trophy wines, or rare and expensive wines, are becoming especially good values. Prices are likely to hit bottom in 1999.

Britons tend to purchase wines with which they are familiar, and the California wine industry has been lax about promoting its wine in the United Kingdom. In addition, the wines tend to be overpriced, and this prevents people from sampling them.
