Effects of vegetarian diets on aging and longevity
Article Abstract:
Vegetarian diets may be useful in preventing some diseases and extending longevity. However, vegan diets can cause calcium, zinc, protein, and vitamin deficiencies, so a degree of caution is warranted. While a vegetarian diet provides certain health benefits, a diet that includes moderate amounts of meat and fish can be just as healthy. Evaluating the actual health aspects of a vegetarian diet is difficult, because vegetarians' overall health may be affected by lifestyle factors other than diet.
