Lowered energy intake and dietary macronutrient balance: potential consequences for micronutrient status
Article Abstract:
The assessment of a balanced diet is possible by considering the short-term intakes of different nutrients which meet the body's requirements. A balance is essential between the macro- and micronutrients if food intake is low. Fat gaining is observed even during low dietary intake and low requirements, which implies the importance of physical activities. Vegetables are preferred but animal-based food products are vital sources of zinc, iron and other nutrients in large amounts.
