North Carolina's outer banks
Article Abstract:
The Outer Banks are sand islands off the North Carolina coast. They are about a few miles wide, several miles long and serve as a protective barrier against the Atlantic Ocean. They have been home to settlers since the 16th century, among them the ancestors of the first aviators, the Wright brothers.

The Piedmont area of Italy borders France and Switzerland, and the wines and foods produced in the region are well known. Piedmont is also known for keeping to traditional, long-time cooking methods and its landscapes. Seven recipes that provide a sample of the foods are presented.
