The Avenue des Champs-Elysees is a historic boulevard in Paris that has been the center of the city's cultural, business and political life for centuries. However, it deteriorated over the years until the French government's efforts to restore it 1989, resulting in a cleaner and less congested avenue in 1994.

Thomas Jefferson in Paris

Thomas Jefferson enjoyed a long stay in Paris, arriving there in Aug 1784 at age 41 with his daughter and servant. An attempt to retrace many of his steps was based on Howard Rice's book, 'Thomas Jefferson's Paris.' His homes and haunts are described, and a restaurant is recommended.
