Two restaurants in New York are reviewed, one is the BLT, the eatery for the well-stocked New Yorkers reflects the optimism of the city itself with king-sized servings but the decor is austere. Hearth, another up-market eatery opened in East Village has one of the best selections of wines, which are reasonably priced, and the restaurant serves excellent food.

Thomas Keller, the chef in Los Angeles kept a low profile before eventually starting a restaurant called The French Laundry in Napa Valley. Some of Keller's most successful dishes from the French Laundry include 'macaroni 'n' cheese', featuring succulent lobster with mascarpone-infused orzo, and 'bacon and eggs'.
