Beautiful ancient trees that have stood for centuries broke, their limbs falling and branches snapping, one wintry night. The sound of ice falling from the branches was like the sound of crystal dropping onto concrete. Stumps of the many trees felled by ice now serve as a grim reminder of that night.

A woman was surprised to discover a mystery plant growing out by her compost one summer, and it was not until fall she realized they were pumpkins, though she had no idea how they got planted. She made glowing jack-o-lanterns from them, to honor the mystery of their arrival.
