Lovejoy felt triumph when won a gold medal in the 50-meter breaststroke at the 1995 Paralympic Swimming Trials. Doctors had predicted he would never walk after he was paralyzed in a car accident, but he regained some use of his hands and legs. Lovejoy is also a fencer and a Cubmaster.

Spine tinglers

German and American cactus lovers are engaged in a heated dispute over whether cactuses have spines or thorns. The Germans believe the correct term is thorns, while the Americans prefer spines. Nomenclature disputes in ornithology and paleontology are also discussed.

Language and nationalism are interrelated, but the use of multiple languages is not a threat to the unity of America. Finland, Switzerland, India, some African countries and some Southeast Asian countries function well with multiple languages.
