The biggest challenge that will face the next commander-in-chief and president of the US after his inauguration in Jan. 1997 is preparing for the next war. Nobody knows when the next big-scale war will take place nor who the enemy will be but the US must be ready when it happens.

Should the military return to gender-segregated basic training?
Article Abstract:
Rep. Roscoe G. Bartlett of Maryland believes gender-segregated basic training will allow a more competent fighting force. Rep. Jane Harman of California, on the other hand, says resegregating will result in decreased opportunities and success of women in the military.

War without a plan
Article Abstract:
The Clinton administration stumbled into the Kosovo war because it did not formulate a detailed plan. This prompted many US Congress members to perceive that the US' involvement in Kosovo is a distraction from more fundamental foreign policy issues.
