Barthes et l'image
Article Abstract:
Roland Barthes has had a complex relationship to the cinema and to the film image, including some resistance. An important text on the cinema by Barthes was 'Le Troisieme Sens,' published in 1970 in the 'Cahiers du Cinema,' dealing with the films of Eisenstein. Here Barthes utilizes the ambiguity of the term 'sens' to explore the nature of the image and the role of critical reflection. Article text is in French.
