Jumping from heaven
Article Abstract:
A sad legacy of the 54 granite quarries that once operated in Quincy, MA, is the twelve boys who have been killed jumping into them since the last one closed in 1963. Quarry diving is a sort of rite of passage among Quincy youth, and attempts to stop it have been futile.

They come, they die, they stink to high heaven
Article Abstract:
Atlantic menhaden, or pogies as they are known in Maine, have been coming by the thousands into the state's inlets and marinas to die. This creates a horrible odor and officials are stumped as to why it happens or what could be done to prevent it.
