Seventy-nine years old Frederick W. Case, a high-school biology teacher for 34 years, works with trilliums and other wild flowers, that has earned him many honors, including the 2004 Arthur Hoyt Scott Award for outstanding national contributions to the science and art of gardening. Fred's garden has over 38 species of North American native trilliums, plus numerous hybrids.

Terry Yockey describes her garden as a massive mixed-flower-and-shrub border that's about 25 feet wide and 200 feet long. During the winters the gardens wind down but this Minnesota yard, Terry' garden blooms in this season with the red wing, the flamboyant yellow of black-eyed Susan mimics.
