When Pauline Niskanen worked on the Platts Box Company assembly line in the 1940s, she penciled her name and address inside the boxes she worked on at the factory in Keene, New Hampshire. For years afterwards, Niskanen received letters from people who owned these boxes and wrote to the address they found inside, and she still keeps the letters in her bureau drawer.
