Article Abstract:
Freedman survived the Triangle Shirtwaist textile factory fire in 1911, which took the lives of 146 people, largely immigrant women laborers. She later married a Cunard Line executive, and spent much of the rest of her 107 years speaking to others about root social causes of the tragedy.
