A case in point
Article Abstract:
Most of the problems relating to the employee share schemes of Macdonald Martin Distilleries PLC were effectively dealt with through the establishment of an Employee Share Ownership Plan (ESOP). What made the ESOP attractive was the opportunities it offered for buying shares to the satisfaction of various schemes and of strengthening a stock of shares in an economical way. With the help of consultants, Macdonald Martin was able to comprehend and deal with the ESOP's tax and legal implications. The whiskey distiller's offshore trust has already begun proving its usefulness.
