Marketing efforts of the allergy relief drug Claritin made the drug seem more effective than it really was, especially since the drug took more than six years to gain FDA approval. The marketing push was made by Schering-Plough to sell the product, as well as to recoup the hundreds of millions of dollars spent developing the drug.
