Robin Lundqist began her Bookstart summer reading project in 1967 and has continued it each summer for 33 years. Her program began at an Indian reservation in Minnesota, continued in St Louis, MO, when she lived there, and is now run from her neighborhood in Albuquerque, NM.

A female freelance journalist who escaped the tyranny of deadlines in a weekly trade magazine found a way to meet her need for professional growth by working as editor for the periodical 'Utne Reader.' Her dream job was physically taxing but psychologically energizing.
