Saved by drowning
Article Abstract:
Partial liquid ventilation (PLV) using a perflourochemical has been used to carry oxygen to the lungs of ten-year-old Rebecca Little, whose air sacs were damaged due to a drowning accident. Aside from oxygen transport, the chemical was used to clear out debris in Rebecca's lungs.

The dog in the flood

Pilot Michael Kidd and KCRA-TV cameraman Ron Middlekauff have bravely rescued a border collie, Rodeo, from a rooftop during a heavy flood in Arboga, California. The dog clung to the roof when the flood water started to reach the top story of owner Jim Thompson's house.
