Fifty-nine-year old Nick Clapp, an independent filmmaker, persisted in his belief that the city of Ubar remains buried beneath the dunes of the Empty Quarter. Despite archeological claims that it was a mere legend, Clapp hired experts and found the city 10 years after his search began.
