A group of Canadian and Australian scientists have developed a chemical that slows the normal growth rate of grass by a third. The chemical is a variation of the class of plant hormones known as gibberllins, which control plant growth.

German and British soldiers stopped fighting and celebrated Christmas together in 1914. They exchanged gifts of food, sang carols and played soccer. However, the war resumed on Jan 1, 1915, and lasted until Nov 11, 1918.
