American Expeditionary Forces leaders convened the Paris Caucus at the Cirque de Paris in France on Mar 15, 1919 to establish the American Legion. The men include George Ared White, Eric Fisher Woods, Col William Joseph Donovan, Woodnutt Miller, Col Bennett Champ Clark and Theodore Roosevelt Jr.

A friend to the GI for 82 years
Article Abstract:
The American Legion was founded in 1919 to help protect the rights of veterans after the First World War. Congress passed the GI Bill of Rights in 1944 after pressure from the Legion to improve benefits and education of veterans.
