The Star Island Pelicans

An overview is presented of the summer jobs available on Star Island, an island owned and operated by the Star Island Corporation, which conducts educational and religious conferences throughout the summer. The high school and college students who are recruited to work on the island throughout the summer for approximately $200 per work including room and board, are known as Star Island Pelicans.

Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival

A personal narrative is presented describing the experiences of working as a programming intern during the 10-week Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival, which takes place in New England's Berkshire Mountains. Internships are available in the theater production, business office, archives/preservation, box office, and marketing departments, and pay a stipend of US$500 plus room and board.

The schooner Harvey Gamage, which operates in the waters of New England, offers one-, two-, or six-week ocean summer classroom trips for students.
